Introductions are hard. Frequently I unwittingly assume that if I know Mitchell, and I know Blair, that Mitchell and Blair must know each other as well. Then Blair and Mitchell stand around awkwardly and scuff the floor a bit, I make a joke that only I laugh at, and finally Blair introduces himself with a friendly handshake.
Fortunately, in this scenario, Blair and Mitchell become the best of friends and go out for drinks to laugh over a lamentable breach of etiquette. Unfortunately in this scenario, I don’t get invited.
I’m Sarah. A confirmed logophile and grammar fiend, this spring I graduate with a Bachelor of Arts in writing and a psychology minor, and hopefully embark on an editing career. Lynne Truss is my hero; I wear high heels to spite the rain; semicolons are my favorite punctuation mark; and if I had a million dollars I’d remodel my mom’s kitchen and get all my button-up shirts tailored.
